Notes on today's run
Had about 30 friends and relatives over for my youngest boy’s birthday party. We had a lot to do this morning so I got out early for a 4 mile run. Notes for today’s run:
Slower pace than I expected - 13:16 per mile. I didn’t have any problems, run went/felt great. But I was easily distracted this morning and kept slowing down and had to keep reminding myself to push.

Another 5K done
Ran a 5K on the treadmill today. Fought for every step. Made a decent pace but my head just wasn’t in it this time.
I wanted to do 4 miles today but just couldn’t do much past 3 (3.4 I believe). Started having some serious cramps.
I think one issue is I ran real late today - it was about 2:00. However, I hadn’t eaten since breakfast. So maybe it’s more of a fuel...

I signed up for the Challenge Obesity 5K today on April 21st.

These are the hard days
Heh… Last night for dinner I had some pizza. Figured that would be my “cheat” day. I kept it reasonable - didn’t stuff myself with it like I would have before. Just had a few pieces, was satiated and that’s it. I *think* I had room for it in my calorie budget, but pizza is a hard thing to gauge. Did go thin crust to keep the damage more reasonable.

Last week (3/21/2012): 326 lbs
Current weight (3/28/2012): 323 lbs
3 pounds! That’s awesome! I was concerned that with some uncontrolled eating environments I had over the weekend and Monday evening that things weren’t going to go well. Also was afraid that with this crud my body wouldn’t behave.
It would be REALLY cool if I could say good-bye to the 320’s next week. ...
Finally got outside for a run
Got to run outside today - 2 laps around Normandale Lake. 4.1 miles in 50 minutes.
Today’s run really felt great. I still feel sick, have that malaise from whatever crap I’ve got. During the run, I felt good - almost like I wasn’t sick during the duration of the run.
God I love endorphins!

Got a good run done but it was a struggle
3.6 miles in 43 minutes - includes 5 minute warm up walk of 1/4 mile. I think this might be a record pace for distance. Funny thing is treadmill was set at 5 MPH, but seems to have gone a little faster? I dunno. I do know I sweat like I never have before.

I wish I would have taken a “before” photo, but it’s painful to do. Ugh, this is bad. However, last time I tried on this jacket (a month or two ago), it was MANY inches from coming together across my belly and chest, much less snapping.

Forgot my shoes today
I forgot my running shoes at home today. FML.
So I did some cross training. Really wanted to run though. Ended up on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes then the stationary bike for 15 minutes. Have I ever mentioned that I HATE elliptical machines?

Great Weekend
Just got back from my retreat weekend. It was a great time.
Started off Saturday morning with a run from the chalet to the Telemark Resort in Cable, WI. It was 3 1/2 miles round trip and took 43 minutes - so it was decent time. I did stop for a couple of minutes and looked at some scenery and was looking at the resort before heading back and that figures into the time. Considering that,...
Being active alters your packing perspective
I’m the type (or have been the type?) that can usually pack for a trip in a single small bag. Being active has basically blown that out of the water. Here’s my packing list for a weekend trip:

2 shirts, 2 pair socks, two pair underwear

CPAP

Scheduled rest day
So today is a scheduled rest day. Going on a weekend retreat and have my workout stuff packed. Should have some opportunities for running and biking this weekend. Good times.
That also means that I will be stuck in a car ride for ~4 hours on a day that I didn’t work out. Haha.
I might go for a walk later.

First of all, call me silly but I had to jump on the scale to see if WIW would be different than Thursday. Nope, still 326 - actually a relief. So I guess WIW will be the official plan.
Did my intervals today. Again still 7MPH for 90 seconds and walking for 2 minutes for two miles or so. Did 2.25 miles in 30 minutes. There’s no joy in this - just have to get it done. It is interesting...

Sounds like as good a day as any to weigh in. Actually, it’s probably my best day. I was thinking about doing Friday but that’s a likely day where things go crazy and I might now get down to the gym.

Kind of a blah run today - should be a victory...
Just ran. 2.75 miles in 33 minutes.
Doesn’t count hopping off the treadmill for a couple of minutes to retie my shoes (too tight) and get a drink of water about 2 miles or so into it. Frankly they were excuses to catch a breather.
The whole workout felt low energy - like I was struggling. I wanted to do 5K but just pooped out at 2.75 miles.

Forced myself to do a rest day

I went down to do some strength and stretch today. Really wanted to run but know I need to rest. My right ankle is a little sore. It doesn’t hurt all the time but when I step just right I get a sharp pain on the outside and low. It didn’t get worse from my run yesterday but it does tell me to take a rest today.

Only tangentially related to doing life
Nike+ kinda sucks. I like it a lot when it’s working right but it flakes out frequently. I’ll be in the middle of a run and the music is interrupted with “Pausing Workout” and the Nike+ app totally checks out and stops recording what I’m doing.
Yesterday’s run I couldn’t get it to recognize the sensor on my shoe. Patience is wearing thin. Said screw it...
Couldn't resist
I figured I’d take a day off today. Didn’t happen. Just couldn’t resist a short run.
Did two miles. Went hard though (for me) and ran 5 MPH. It felt really really good.
The remaining question is tomorrow going to be a rest day or will I do my intervals tomorrow as “schedule” and do my rest day on Wednesday as usual?

Rest Day driving me nuts
Today is supposed to be a rest day. Normally I’d cross train but I want to give my legs a rest for today and tomorrow before the 8K on Sunday.

Got to run outside today
Did my 3 mile run today. Ran around Normandale Lake and then some - 3.47 miles. This might be the fastest I’ve run that distance too - did it in 45:55 for a 4.5 mile/hour pace.
Beautiful day - 55 degrees. Knees and ankles felt fine too.
I probably looked really funny riding my motorcycle over to the park in my running shorts and motorcycle jacket.

Workout today went really well. Kicked my butt! I went pretty high intensity at with running at 7.0MPH for 1:30 intervals and 2min walking. Did it for 2.25 miles.

Low energy day, but good workout
Did my workout today. 5.12 miles counting the warmup/cooldown. Almost 4.75 was run. It was tough to get through today, not sure why. I just have really low energy today. Had a great workout with Steph today
My awesome racquetball playing skills put Terry out of commission for the weekend. So today I went and lifted weights with my wife Steph.
It was a great workout and a great time with her. I got to show her some stuff and played with some different exercises myself.

Had a good workout today. 3.5 miles in 48 minutes. 8 mintues were warmup/cooldown.
I did bump the speed up a little 4.4 according to the treadmill, 4.62 according to the math after the fact.
I wonder how accurate treadmills are??
If I make it tomorrow, then I’ll have hit all my planned workouts for the week!

I hammered out 2 miles of intervals today - 2.5 miles total with warmup/cooldown.
What a difference a week makes. I just did the “normal” 6MPH for 90 seconds and 3.2 MPH walk for 2 min for the two mile duration. Compared to a week ago - it was easy.

Did 5 miles today. 4.5 was running with .25 each warmup/cooldown. Feels freakin’ GREAT to be back on track after a rough several days.
Good news: Seems my particular ankle troubles I had last Thursday was indeed the shoes being too tight - specifically at the top of the shoe. Starting getting that feeling a little today on the left foot and I loosened my lace a little - problem solved.

Ordered some new shoes today.
Stopped at my local running store. Turns out I need more stability - also my shoes are about 5 years old.
They don’t have my size though - had to order a pair of 14’s. Will take up to 6 weeks!
Although, sounds like my “mystery foot pain” was probably my shoes being too tight.

Pretty good weekend
Friday was a bust for the workout. Just couldn’t get away and get a workout in. But did get to play volleyball. We won - by the skin of our teeth again. So, a good game.
Sat was a good workout. Two hours of weight lifting then racquetball. Benched 210 - 5 or 6 reps - don’t remember. Far cry where from where I want to be but put it up pretty clean. Making progress.

Tough workout today
I did my 3 mile run today, but it took everything out of me to do it. Shortly after starting my run, ankles (the fronts and going into the top of the foot) started having a lot of pain. I stopped a couple of times to stretch them out - felt kind of like a cramping.
